No New News As you can see, my last update appears to have been in 2006. Thus, most of this news is out of date. For example, the Ale Stars are no longer playing at the Lamplighter. Vancouver's swing-dance event planners, J&L Productions, have created this one-of-a-kind weekend celebrating jazz dance and jazz music. Dance workshops will be held during the day, followed by dances in the evenings featuring four of Vancouver's best traditional jazz bands. Tickets are limited so act quickly! Hot Jazz Club 2120 Main Street. More Gigs Capilano College's NiteCap Performances 22/09/05 I will be performing this year in the rhythm section of Cap College's NiteCap vocal ensemble. The group will perform with a number of guest artists as part of the Cap Jazz Concert Series. The dates I will be performing with the group: October 28 with Bob Walsh Tribute to Ray Charles December 9 NiteCap & The 'A' Band Christmas Concert April 5 with Jimmy Heath 51st Eight LIVE Recording 01/09/05 This Friday I will be recording a live CD with the 51st Eight jazz band. This, the band's first live CD will be recorded at the Hot Jazz Club. It's a fantastic venue for listeners and dancers alike featuring lounge-style seating, fully licensed bar, and an excellent dance floor. Come on out and be a part of the recording. I think it will be an excellent night. Admission is $10 at the door. Whistler 29/08/05 I just got back from a great weekend in Whistler. The gig went well - it was an excellent quartet with Simon Stribling, Lauri Lyster, Georgia Korba, and myself. The crowds really enjoyed the music as did each of us. Tonight the big band led by Simon and featuring all the above musicians plays at the Burnaby Mountain Golf Course. See the Gigs page for more info.
